- Math 111 End of Week 8 Newsletter: I put a lot of work into making this into a summary study guide. I hope this helps.
- Math 111 Exam Rules and Study Advice: This is copy of the same document I handed out the two lectures preceeding exam 1. Please read it again for the exam rules and detailed studying advice.
- Full Review for Exam 2: Contains a one-page checklist of the concepts you need to know for exam 2 followed by two pages of example problems from the homework.

- All Exam 2 Review Sheets Combined into one file (Contains the exam 2 review sheet along with all review sheets that I have created for you since exam 1 all in one file, sorted by topic)

- Section 5.1-5.3 Review: Discussion of power and log rules along with a discussion of inverse pairs. There are also lots of examples and pratice problems if you are confused about solving.
- Review of basic exponent rules: This should help you as we start the next topic (you need exponent/factions rules often in chapters 5 and 6).
- Review of Solving Skills: This my brief two-page review on how to solve equations, again this should help you as we go into chapters 5 and 6.

- Math 111 End of Week 6 Newsletter: Make sure to read the hints in the newsletter before you do the 1.5 and 4.1 homework (there is important information about how to enter your answers).
- Chapter 2 Problem Review: In this sheet I categorized every problem from the 2.2 and 2.3 homework assignments to help you start to organize your thinking.
- Review of 2.2 and 2.3 with six full old exam practice problems with detailed solutions This is a great time to stop, review and do more practice and this review sheet should help (we now have all the tools to do full applications problems with lines and quadratics so now it is time to practice, practice, practice!).
- Section 1.5 & 4.1 Review: These sheets gives examples of solving systems of equations and graphing inequalities. We will discuss the other skill of translating in class Wednesday and Friday (note that we did one of the "story" homework questions from 1.5 and one from 4.1 homework already in lecture. If those were hard for you, start 1.5 and 4.1 now and ask for help in the MSC).
- Section 4.2 Review: Contains a full summary of linear programming along with 3 additional examples with full solutions.

Announced 10/3/2016: Here are the fully filled out table of translations from the lecture on Supplement 5. You should try to fill out the table on your own before looking at these solutions. Then check your answers. Also use these translations to help you complete the homework. In addition, I created a little flowchart to help you organize your thinking on how to solve graphical problems. Check it out.

Announced 9/25/2016: Welcome to Math 111! Please read the following important announcements:

Textbook Information: You are NOT required to purchase a hard copy of the text.
You MAY purchase a custom, loose-leaf edition of the text, listed as Applied Mathematics for Business, by Harshbarger/Reynolds at the University Book Store. (We'll use Chapters 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 for Math 111 and the remaining chapters for Math 112.) The text comes bundled with an access code for Webassign, the online homework system that we use for this course. (Our text is a customized version of Mathematical Applications for the Management, Life, and Social Sciences, tenth edition, by Harshbarger/Reynolds. Full versions of the text may be found for sale on-line but they tend to be more expensive.)

If you do not want to purchase a hard copy of the text, you may purchase an electronic copy of the text, along with access to Webassign through webassign. Here is the link to log into webassign: homework assignments (Webassign)

Whether you use the hard copy or electronic copy of the text, all students must have a Webassign access code. Webassign offers a two-week grace period during which you may access your homework without entering an access code. Your access code will work for both Math 111 and Math 112.

During the first few weeks of the quarter, the homework will cover material that is not in the text. You will need to download this Supplementary Reading to learn about this material. (You are not required to have a paper copy of this material.)
Other Required Materials:
- a clear plastic ruler;
- A Ti-30x IIS Calculator -- about $15 at the bookstore. (This is the ONLY calculator that we allow on the exams).
- graphs for the homework from the Supplementary Reading (these are just for you to print out and use to help with your homework);
- graphs that go with lectures (print these out and bring them to lecture).
