Monday 2/4

  • Tell whether your project team is solo or duo

Class

  • Build a regular dodecahedron from "tents" on the side of a cube. Hence 5 cubes in the dodecahedron.
  • Dual of dodecahedron is icosahedron
  • Defining the concept of "regular polyhedron". The only 5 are teh Platonic solids.
  • Euler number the same for polyhedra that are "spheres" such as convex polyhedra. This included triangular bipyramid and pentagonal antiprism as examples.
  • Construct a non-regular tetrahedron from midpoint triangles of any triangle.
  • The 4 midpoints of any tetrahedron form a parallelogram. This is just the mipoint quad in disguise.

  • Plane section of a right circular cylinder is an ellipse is proved from Dandelin spheres.
  • Reading: Ogilvy, pp. 56-59, Chapter 6
  • Reading: GTC, Chapter 6
