You are expected to attend lectures and quiz sections regularly unless you are ill, need to isolate, or have another legitimate reason or emergency. If you need to miss a class, use Canvas, consult classmates, or attend your teaching assistant’s or professor’s office hours to find out what course material and announcements you missed. You should catch up promptly.
The two midterm exams are given during Thursday quiz sections in weeks 4 and 8 of the quarter. Quiz sections also include course worksheets, which are completed in groups and graded for participation. Depending on the instructor, there may also be quizzes during some weeks.
Consult your course syllabus for the policy that applies if you must miss a quiz section in which an exam or other graded assignment is given.
Students may watch the lectures according to a schedule they establish for themselves. Ideally, each lecture should be watched by its assigned due date. Falling substantially behind the recommended lecture schedule is likely to make it difficult to keep up with the course and may adversely affect your performance.
The teaching-assistant-led quiz sections operate in the same way as those in Standard sections. Regular in-person attendance is expected except in cases of illness or emergency, as explained above.
The absence of scheduled Monday, Wednesday, and Friday lectures gives students greater flexibility in scheduling other courses. However, it also requires students to maintain their own study schedule and keep up with assignments.Math 125 Online Section
When offered, the Online section has no scheduled lectures or quiz sections. Students watch prerecorded lectures according to a schedule they establish for themselves, as described above for the Hybrid section. Worksheets and any quizzes are completed online. Instead of attending quiz sections, students participate in an online discussion board.
What type of Math 125 section should I register for?
All Math 125 sections follow the same schedule as shown in The Materials Website They cover the same material and have the same homework assignments. They also have a common final exam.Math 125 Standard Sections:
