Here's a copy of the review we went over today in lecture. Included is a short summary of exponentiation rules.
The homework schedule has been changed slightly. The main thing is that Worksheet 11 is no longer to be done before the midterm.
Yes, there is a midterm in quiz section on Thursday, January 27. It will cover Worksheets 1-10 and Problem Set 1, but skipping Worksheet 2 and 8. Please bring to the exam a calculator, a ruler, a photo ID, and one double-sided sheet of handwritten notes. The FAQ contains advice on how to study in order to do well on this exam. The Math 112 Exam Archive contains eams given in previous quarters. (WARNING: Your exam will not look exactly like any of these exams. Your goal should not be to memorize how to solve only the problems on the old exams, but to learn how to solve problems in general.)
To help your studies for midterm 1 (on Thursday, 1/27/05), Alison Johnson, who works at the Math Study Center, will be holding a review session for Math 112 on January 26, from 7-9 PM, in Mary Gates Hall, room 284.
The homework schedule has been updated as a result of Wednesday's cancelled lecture. There is nothing due on 1/7: it's been pushed forward into the assignment due on 1/14. Note that we are now skipping Worksheet 2.
I set up a class discussion board for discussion of anything connected with the course. I'll be checking it periodically (more if I notice people using it a lot) but if you want a quick response from me please email me directly.
A link has been added to a pdf version of the text. The link is at right in the Resources column.
