I am a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Washington. During the 2021–2022 academic year I am supported by an MSRI/Simons Postdoctoral Fellowship. Starting August 2022, I will be a tenure-track assistant professor at the University of San Diego!
My research interests lie primarily in algebraic and topological combinatorics. I am particularly interested in studying the interplay of various algebraic, topological, and combinatorial properties of simplicial complexes. I received my PhD in 2018 under the supervision of Jeremy Martin at the University of Kansas, and my research mentor at UW is Isabella Novik. My CV can be found here.
I enjoy teaching all levels and areas of mathematics and advising student research. I am a science mentor for Frontiers for Young Minds, a math journal with articles written by mathematicians and refereed by students in elementary, middle, and high school. I am also involved with UW's Math Circles, and I have served on my department's diversity and grad admissions committees. I recently co-organized AMS Special Sessions at the 2021 AMS Fall Sectional and the 2022 Joint Mathematics Meetings.
While I was a graduate student, I was the organizer of the University of Kansas's Math Awareness Month outreach activities for two years, and I was an organizer for the Graduate Student Combinatorics Conference 2017.
Outside of math, I enjoy board games, playing the piano, and traveling with my wife and our cat, Napoleon. In April 2020, we got a new TA, Charlie.
