The courses vary somewhat in level and style, but all should be accessible and useful for secondary math teachers (and some are appropriate for elementary teachers with strong math backgrounds). The courses address various Essential Learnings. To learn more, read the detailed course descriptions (linked above) and also the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) Page.
All the courses are held on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington, in Hansee Hall. Lodging on campus is available to Washington teachers at no additional charge. Lunch is provided for for all participants.
For Washington teachers, the registration fee for the Summer Geometry Institute is $75 and the fee for each two-day Short Course is $40. There is also a $25 late fee for registrations after June 15. The low cost is thanks to the support of the Math Cases grant through the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Out-of-state teachers are welcome to apply, but their expenses are not subsidized and thus the fee is larger. Consult the Out-of State Cost page for details.
Clock hours or UW credit for Math 497 are available at additional cost. (For UW math credit, some hours of After-Dinner Math are required.)
