Program Description

Biographical information for presenters

Coordinate Geometry and Transformations - Karen Hall
We will use basis vectors to explore transformation matrices, including translations. Bring your graphing calculator.
Triangles on Spheres - Art Mabbott
Exploring the triangle sum conjecture (The sum of the angles in a triangle = 180) on the sphere. Does the TSC change when you change some of the rules?
Perking with Polyhedra - Joanne Robinson
This is an activity using swizzel-stick straws and string to make various polyhedra, including a pyramid of tetrahedra.
Geometrical reflections: It's all done with mirrors - James King
We will explore some examples of line reflection in plane geometry using physical mirrors and also with The Geometer's Sketchpad. The examples will include some geometrical problem-sovling and constructions as well as examination of symmetry in design.

If you can not come for the entire day, come for the morning or afternoon.

Lunch will be on your own so bring a sack lunch to eat at the school or plan to eat at a nearby restaurant.
