Austin Stromme

Austin Stromme is a senior at the University of Washington, double majoring in math and computer science. He started learning math independently in high school. At first he thought of it as a prerequisite for his intended field of theoretical physics, but he enjoyed it so much for its own sake that he quickly decided to focus on it alone. Much to the sorrow of his friends and family, he is always ready to proselytize (often at length) for the beauty, elegance, and artistry of math. He has competed in the Putnam competition (top 500) and done original research on probabilistic models and generalized electrical networks.

In his free time he enjoys backpacking, reading fiction, meditating, and eating bacon.
