Have a good break!
Here are the final exam stats (just for section G): n=32; low=69; 1st quartile=84; median=93; 3rd quartile=98.5; max=100 (4 people).
Updated grade record coming soon!
I'll be holding an office hour, 4-5 PM this Friday, March 20, if you would like to stop by and see your final exam or last writing problem. You can do this during any of my office hours next quarter, too.
The MSC will be open this Friday until 9:30 PM.
CLUE will be holding a 125 review on Wednesday, March 11, from 7 to 9 PM, in MGH 248.
Here is the grade record. Please check that your scores have been recorded correctly: let me know if you find an error.
Here is a gallery of orthogonal families of curves.
Answers to the second midterm exam are now available in my exam archive (link at right).
Here is a center of mass example, with animated graphics, you might find interesting.
Here is writing problem #3.
There was an error in the answers to the Winter 2008 midterm. It has been corrected.
CLUE will be holding a review for the second midterm exam from 7 to 9 PM, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, in MGH 295.
For the upcoming midterm exam and the final exam, it will be helpful to know what integral facts you can simply state, and which require justification (i.e., which you'll have to show work on). Here is the policy: the integrals on page 484 all can be used without any justification. You can have these on your notesheet and use them at will. You may have other integral facts on your notesheet, but you will need to include all work when using anything not in this table.
And to be clear, you can put anything you want on your notesheet.
Here is a review sheet for midterm two.
The homework schedule has been updated. I removed problem 4 (the cycloid problem) from the Week 7 Problems. It's an arc length question, and we'll talk about arc length on Friday.
There were a couple of typos in the writing problem in parts 3 and 4: a plus sign should have been a minus sign. It has been updated here.
Here are answers and hints to the integral sheet I handed out in class last week.
You can get a copy of the integral sheet here.
This is the worksheet for this week. Please bring a copy of it to quiz section.
Here is writing problem #2. I'll talk a bit about in on Monday.
Answers (with some partial and complete solutions) for the first midterm exam have been added to the exam archive (see link at right).
Here is a write-up of the leaking bucket problem, and how generally to deal with "cable problems" described in terms of time.
Here are the scores from the first midterm (out of a possible 70):
22,26,41,45,46,47,47,48,49,52,53,53,54,55,56,56,57,57,57,58,58,59,59,59,59,61,62,64,65,65,66,70
I've added last winter's midterms to the old exams page listed at right. For some reason, I don't have a solutions page for midterm 1: I'll be writing one this weekend.
Also, note that problem 4 from last winter's exam is not something I'd expect you to solve: it relies on ideas that we covered last year in the first writing problem.
Here is a review sheet for the first midterm exam.
The worksheet for Tuesday is this one. Please bring a copy to quiz section.
Confused about the differential bit when doing integration by substitution? I wrote this to try to clarify what's going on. Let me know if anything still is unclear.
Writing Problem #1:
For Tuesday, please bring a copy of this worksheet to quiz section.
After discussing it with Justin, I've decided that we will keep with last quarter's system of worksheets on Tuesdays and homework due on Friday. This gives us a nice long Thursday session for homework discussion.
I have updated the homework schedule. There is just a short assignment for Friday, on antiderivatives and the mean value theorem. We'll get into area in Friday's lecture.
Welcome to Math 125 G, Winter quarter 2009.
