Here is the grade record, with final exam scores and course grades. These are the actual course grades, including the course curve.

Here are the final exam stats: min=4, 1st quartile=47, median=59, 3rd quartile=72, max=98.

Have a good break!

March 14, 2007

I'm almost finished grading the final exam - I should have grades posted by the end of the week. Unfortunately, I won't be able to hold office hours this week. If you'd like your final exam, you can stop by office hours after the start of next quarter.

March 2, 2007

Here is a course summary or review.

March 1, 2007

Here is the current grade file. Your grade information is listed under the last four digits of your student id number. Be sure to check that your scores have been recorded correctly. If you find an error, please bring it to the attention of your TA right away. Included is also an estimated course grade. This includes the course curve, and the dropping of your lowest homework score. Obviously it does not include the final exam: that can have a very large impact on your actual course grade.

February 27, 2007

Here are answers to the second midterm.

February 26, 2007

Here are some stats on the second midterm:

n68

I'll post a grade record this week that will include an estimate current course grade for everyone.

Answers to the exam will be posted later on Tuesday.

Here is a review sheet for the second midterm.

Old exams can now be found at the link in the column on the right under Resources.

We'll be going over Midterm 2 from Spring 2005 on Friday.

February 7, 2007

Problem 6 of week 5 is quite challenging, so I've written a similar example to show you a good method for solving problems like this.

Here it is.

February 6, 2007

Here are the first exam statistics:

February 5, 2007

Here are the answers to the first midterm.

February 4, 2007

Here is a graphic illustrating the curve in problem 3.5 #48. This is actually the top half of the complete bullet nose curve, which has equation y2(2-x2)=x2.

February 1, 2007

Here is an animation illustrating the slope of the tangent line to bx at x=0 for various values of b. This can be taken as the definition of e: it's the value of b such that the slope of the tangent line at 0 is 1. (reload if the animation won't go)

January 26, 2007

Here is the most recent midterm one that I've given in Math 124, from Spring 2005.

Here are answers for that exam.

Here is another old exam of mine, from Winter 2003.

Here are solutions for that exam.

January 21, 2007

Problem 6 from week 3, the "wolves and caribou" problem is pretty challenging, so I wrote up a page of hints and discussion on it. Stop by during office hours if you want to talk about it.

January 17, 2007

I removed the 2.5 material (i.e. part 1 of week 3) from this week's homework assignment. I'll be moving it to next week's assignment.

January 16, 2007

Here is an animation illustrating a problem of continuity involving a piecewise-defined (i.e., multipart) function with a parameter. There will be an example in lecture on Friday that is similar.

January 16, 2007

I removed part 6 of the "Week 3" assignment from this week's homework; it'll be due next week. It relies on the idea of infinite limits which we'll discuss Friday.

January 11, 2007

Here is a little discussion on the curious functions sin(1/x) and x sin(1/x).

January 9, 2007

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!! I have decided to change the date of the first midterm exam, to allow us to cover more material before the exam. The first midterm exam will be on January 30. That is,

Midterm One is on January 30

instead of January 23. Please make a note of this! Please help spread the word!
