What is PCMI?

NWMI is an offspring and affiliated program of the High School Teacher Program of the IAS/Park City Mathematics Institute (PCMI). PCMI is a national program of with math programs that sponsors a three-week summer institute in Park City, Utah, every summer.

What is PD3?

A new project of PCMI is an NSF Math-Science Partnership called PD3. This project is a teacher leadership project working with three school districts, Seattle, Cincinnati, Ohio, and McAllen, Texas.

Because of this project, NWMI is designing and providing special professional development opportunities for Seattle Public School teachers as part of the overall PD3 effort, such as the Middle Grades Program this year.

Paid Registration and Stipends for NWMI programs for Seattle Teachers

Teachers who are employed by the Seattle public schools can enroll in any of the NWMI programs this summer. Registration will be paid by the grant. For schools that are active participants in PD3 (Garfield, so far. Cleveland and West Seattle pending), a stipend will be paid by the grant. PD3 has been told that other Seattle teachers can receive stipends from SPS (contact Rosalind Wise for details.).
