  • WebAssign Students in Math 120 are required to use WebAssign for homework assignments. You will need to purchase an access code (between $50 and $60). After the start of the quarter, you can log in to WebAssign here and purchase an access code on the WebAssign website. This will require your UW Net ID. Your UW Net ID is the part of your university email address before the @ symbol. The password to log in is your UW Net ID password.

You must be enrolled in the course in order to get access to the homework on WebAssign.

The Math Department will again offer WebAssign codes to a limited number of students with demonstrated financial need. The form will close Friday, Sep. 27 at noon in order to have enough time for the financial aid office to process requests.

The Department of Mathematics has a limited amount of funds available to provide WebAssign to students facing financial hardships and cannot afford to purchase on their own. Students must complete the form for a request to be considered. Assistance is based on the availability of funds.

    IMPORTANT INFORMATION

    • Students must have a current year FAFSA on file to determine financial need. Students who receive enough financial aid to cover textbooks and course materials are not eligible.
    • Students must be registered for a UW Math course that uses WebAssign for homework submission at the time of the request.
    • Applications are only accepted during the first 3 days of the quarter (closing at noon on the 3rd day).
    • A brief statement is required to explain the financial barrier(s) preventing purchasing WebAssign.
    • Students must be in good academic standing with the University and not have any academic holds on their record.

Students will be notified of a decision by the 10th day of the quarter in an email sent to the UW email address.

  • There is a required calculator for Math 120, 124, 125 and 126. It is the Texas Instruments TI-30X IIS which can be purchased from many places for well under $20. The UW Bookstore carries orange ones, which they will buy back at the end of quarters, but any color is acceptable for Math 120, 124, 125 and 126. Here is a picture of a black (the most common color) TI-30X IIS for reference.
  • Math Study Center All students in Math 120 are encouraged to utilize the Math Study Center (located in B-014 in the basement of the Communications building). The MSC is a great place to study: you can work with other students in your course, form study groups, and get assistance from tutors when you are stuck. The hours of operation of the MSC are listed on the MSC website.
