Discussion on Spherical Triangles (done with spheres and rubber bands) -- given a sphere and 3 great circles that are not concurrent:

1. The 3 circles cut up the sphere into triangles. How many? Which ones are congruent?
2. What does congruent mean? Is the antipodal map an isometry? Is is a rotation?
3. How do 2 of the triangles that share a side fit together to form a lune.
4. Now if one of the triangles is ABC. One can find the area of any of the lunes from the angles of ABC. Use this fact to find a relationship between the angles of ABC and the area.
