Worksheets are one of our fundamental teaching tools. They can pique the interest of the class, provoke a lively discussion and lead on to mathematical exploration and a deepening of the students' conceptual grasp on the material. Alternatively, they can bore a class to tears or produce a total refusal to attempt the work, and feel like a total waste of everyone's time. The difficulty is predicting which ones will do which.

Julie Nuzman is going to launch the discussion with a small collection of worksheets which have produced highly variable results. If you have one which worked particularly well, or alternatively one which mysteriously bombed, please bring it!
