How to use make_photo_page.pl



This script should be located in the photos directory.  It can be used to turn a directory full of .jpg pictures into a simple .html page listing thumbnails of these pictures, which link to the originals.  It requires two arguments.  The first is the name of the directory inside photos that contains the pictures.  The second is the name of the output file, which will be placed inside the directory specified by the first argument.

For example, suppose 2011 is a directory containing .jpg pictures.   From the photos directory, type:


perl make_photo_page.pl 2011 index.html


Here, the first argument is 2011 and the second is index.html.  After this is run, photos/2011/index.html is the webpage listing the pictures.  Note that its permissions may still need to be changed.  644 is fine.
