Mathematics 412A
Winter 2006
W credit
If you would like W credit for Math 412, turn in the following
on the last day of class:
- For each of four homework exercises:
- a copy of your initial attempts at the problem
- a copy of any drafts which you showed to your group,
plus comments they had on it
- a copy of any drafts which you showed to me or to Jacob,
plus comments we had on it
- a copy of the draft you turned in, plus comments that
Jacob had on it when he graded it
- a copy of the revision (if you did one for that
problem)
For exercises from assignments 1 and 2, you may have discarded
your early work, so you can instead summarize what the early
drafts were like, what sorts of comments you received, and how
you incorporated them into your final solutions.
- A cover sheet describing how well (or badly) the revision
process went for these problems. Did the revision lead to a
better solution? If so, better mathematically, or better
explained, or better in some other way, or some combination?
Explanation of this assignment: in order to receive W credit,
you need to demonstrate that you understand (and have
participated in) the "writing process" in which you write a
draft of your document, and then you revise it (repeatedly if
necessary) until you get a draft that you're happy with (or you
run out of time and have to hand it in).
