Weeklong Summer Institute: Geometry and the Common Core

This program, with a new emphasis on the Common Core, is based on the original NWMI course, now for its 18th year!

Weeklong Summer Institute: Algebra and the Common Core

This Common Core focused program is based on previous Math Science Partnership programs!

Two Shorter Courses: Recreational Math and Math of Origami

The courses meet 8:30 - 5:00 for all days

After-Dinner Math

Optional activities for math enjoyment and time for sharing with other teachers.

Who should sign up?

The courses vary somewhat in level and style, but all should be accessible and useful for secondary math teachers (and some may be appropriate for elementary teachers with strong math backgrounds). The weeklong courses address important features of the Common Core State Standards which are also relevant to the current Washington State Standards. The short courses address some of the the Standards of Mathematical Practice of the CCSS.

Location and (optional) Lodging

All the courses are held on the Seattle campus of the University of Washington. Lodging on campus is available at an additional charge. Lunch is included for all participants.

Cost

The registration fee (without lodging but including lunch) for either of the weeklong Geometry and Algebra programs is $300; the registration fee for either of the two-day courses is $125. Registration packages including the cost of lodging are listed on the Cost Page.

Clock hours are available for total hours of participation (including evening sessions) or UW credit for Math 497 is available at additional cost for either of the weeklong programs. More detail at this link.

Application Forms and Deadlines

  • Fill out the On-Line Application Form. so that we know who you are.
  • After this, send a check or purchase order with the registration fee, along with a printout of the relevant printable Registration Form to the the address on the form.
  • Registration Deadline: Until filled, with late fee after June 25
  • Deadline for full Refund for Cancellation: June 25
