Washington Math Cases Summer Workshop
for Middle School Teachers

July 30 - August 4

Middle School Workshop: Washington Math Cases

Washington Mathematics Case Study Project is a partnership of mathematics educators working to improve mathematics teaching in Washington. The MCSP project is a partnership among the University of Washington, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and classroom teachers. All activities will align with the Washington State EALRs and the Grade Level Expectations.

This summer's workshop will be based on two topics: Proportional Reasoning and on Geometry. The workshop will be held July 30 - August 4 at the University of Washington campus in Seattle.

The project will pay room and board fees for participants as well as the $750 stipend. In 2006 and 2007, MCSP will hold two summer workshops, a June session in Spokane, and an August session at NWMI in Seattle.

The workshop in 2006 is only open to teachers in partner school districts of the MCP: Seattle Seattle, Spokane, Cheney, Pullman, Inchelium, Tonasket, Willpinit.

Project Components

We cannot stress too strongly that the overall goal of the project is to develop a sustainable program that will form lasting partnerships.
