Washington Math Cases Summer Workshop
for Middle School Teachers

August 1 - 5

Middle School Workshop: Washington Math Cases

Washington Mathematics Case Study Project is a partnership of mathematics educators working to improve mathematics teaching in Washington. The MCSP project is a partnership among the University of Washington, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and classroom teachers. All activities will align with the Washington State EALRs and the Grade Level Expectations.

This summer's workshop will be based on the new Developing Mathematical Ideas module focusing on Patterns, Functions, and Change. The workshop will be held August 1 - 5 at the University of Washington campus in Seattle.

The project will pay room and board fees for participants as well as the $750 stipend. Transportation will be provided from eastern Washington. For the next two years, however, we will hold two summer workshops, a June session in Spokane, and an August session in Seattle.

The workshop in 2005 is only open to teachers in partner school districts of the MCP: Seattle Seattle, Spokane, Cheney, Pullman, Inchelium, Tonasket, Willpinit.

Project Components

We cannot stress too strongly that the overall goal of the project is to develop a sustainable program that will form lasting partnerships.
