Investigating the Orthocenter with Geometer's Sketchpad: Paul Kunkel

Why does the orthocenter of a triangle even have a name? Unlike the circumcenter, the incenter, and the centroid, its special properties are not obvious. We can uncover some of them with the aid of dynamic geometry software.

Anti-Bored Games (or The Inverse of Board Games): Randall Creek

This workshop will be one of the best that you will ever see in your lifetime. You cannot afford to miss it and still consider yourself a respectable math teacher. The only thing better than this presentation is the presenter himself!

Partition a Cube:: Carol Hattan

Carol will share a new geometry activity that she learned this summer at The Park City Group in Princeton, New Jersey. It involves using a partitioned cube as a model of partitioning 3-space.

Kaleidocycle Pillows: Ronda and Will Webber

Kaleidocycle pillows: they don't sit still, they are useful, and they are decorative. We will be making them out of paper to show the mathematics, and out of material to show the beauty. If you have favorite fabrics, please bring four different colors minimum size 32 inches long and 10 inches wide.

Other details:

If you can not come for the entire day, come for the morning or afternoon.

Lunch will be on your own so bring a sack lunch to eat at the school or plan to eat at a nearby restaurant.

Sign-up

The workshop is free, but we ask you to sign up in advance with the Meeting Coordinator, Joyce Frost, JFrost@lkwash.wednet.edu or Karen Hall, khall@pacifier.com.
