Local Host: Sharon Hegewald. TI 83: Art Mabbott An introduction to basic linear equations using parametric equations" Stars: Sharon Hegewald Hinged mirror activities (hands on) for polygonal kaleidoscopes with extenstions to Geometer's Sketchpad (demo). Ratios and Loci: Kris Koch If a perpendicular bisector is the set of all points an equal distance from two given points. i.e. the ratio of the distances is 1:1. What would be the loci of all points whose distance from two given points had a ratio of 1:2, 1:3 or 2:3. LiveMath: Will Webber Live Math is an interactive mathematical software package that does everything from basic arithmetic to differential equations. It is a tremendous tool for visualizing mathematics. Fun Cubes: Dan Rosenfeld & Karen Wilson We will have lessons on isometric drawing and lessons using cubes. The students will try to design all the pieces for soma cubes with "Link-it cubes". They will build their own soma cubes with wooden cubes and white glue. Math Books: Ronda Webber Take a look at some storybooks that are filled with math. A great project for connecting reading, math, art, and family life. |
If you can not come for the entire day, come for the morning or afternoon.
Lunch will be on your own so bring a sack lunch to eat at the school or plan to eat at a nearby restaurant.
The workshop is free, but we ask you to sign up in advance with the Spring Meeting Coordinator Ronda Webber, RondaWebber@cs.com.
