This chart shows mean percentage scores on problems 1 – 5. The bar #6 is the mean for the total scores again.
From the author's point of view, the first problem was supposed to be challenging and some low scores were expected, but problems 2 and 5 were essentially routine exercises in similar triangles and ratios (with the twist of using letters instead of specific numbers in #2). The median score for #2 was 0. The poor showing on these basic problems clearly was a major influence on the overall low scores for the test. .
