6.       At the beginning of Exercises 1.6, are given matrices, including, A, B and D.  For this problem compute (a) M = BA, (b) N = AD, (c) MD, (d) BN.  Which of these matrices are equal and why?

*Special Instructions for 1.5 #57

 

For 1.5 #57, you are supposed to compute P2X.  Do this two ways and show the steps:

(a)    Compute the matrix PP = P2 and then multiply times X to get P2X.  

(b)   Compute PX and then multiply P times PX to get P(PX).

 

Note: It is OK to use a calculator or computer to find the products in this problem.
