Computer languages and software for modeling and simulation:

• Python Jupyter Notebooks: This will be our main programming language, but there are lots of options.
• SAGE: Open Source Mathematical Software A collection of mathematical tools to do symbolic computation, graph manipulation, exact linear algebra, etc. Plus, its being developed right here at UW!
• Tutorials for the R programming language:
  • R Tutorial Somewhat basic, but a good starting point
  • The Comprehensive R Archive Network <--------------- A very in depth tutorial
  • Tinn-R An alternative editor for R that runs on Windows. It uses colors, line numbers, more menus, etc.
• Maple on the Web - Links to almost every Maple related web site.
• MATLAB The optimization and financial math toolboxes are particularly useful for modeling. Simulink can be used for Monte Carlo simulations.
• LINDO Language for optimization Download a demo version
• AMPL A Modeling Language for Mathematical Programming
• The Stony Brook Algorithm Repository (large collection of combinatorial algorithms and implementations in various languages)
• GAMS Guide to Available Mathematical Software
