Grading Scale for Math 112

Below is a very rough estimate of how I suspect percentages will align with grade points at the end of the term. The final grade scale will be NOT match this scale exactly. The official final gradescale will be adjusted so that the grade distribution for the class satisfies departmental and university grade guidelines.

The university guidelines for lower division undergraduate courses here: Sample University Grading Guidelines

The median for this class is typically around 2.9. The median is the middle of the class. So if you score above the median on all exams, then you can expect a grade above 2.9.

A grade of 2.0 is often required in this course to take subsequent courses that require Math 112. I typically tell students that you need to average above 75% on the exams to ensure that you will get the necessary 2.0 to move on.

Anyone that has a course percentage below 50% at the end of the term gets a score of 0.0.

Information on how your final course percentage is computed can be found on the syllabus.
