DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY/PDE/NUMERICAL ANALYSIS SEMINAR Monday, October 9 Padelford C401 3:45 p.m. Peter Hislop (University of Kentucky and UW) AN INTRODUCTION TO RANDOM SCHROEDINGER OPERATORS Random Schroedinger operators are examples of stochastic differential operators which model electron motion in randomly perturbed media. One of the striking aspects of these differential operators is that the randomness causes the eigenfunctions to be localized with probability one. This talk will present some of the basic properties of random operators and survey some recent results. ABOUT THE DG/PDE SEMINAR During the Fall quarter 1995, the Differential Geometry and PDE/Numerical Analysis Seminars will meet jointly on Mondays, 3:45-4:45PM, in Padelford C401. Either or both seminars may be taken for graduate credit. To find out about the requirements for obtaining credit, or for more information about this seminar, view the Differential Geometry Seminar World-Wide Web page at https://www.math.washington.edu/~lee/Seminars/dg.html For additional information about this seminar, contact Jack Lee or Gunther Uhlmann To request disability accommodations, contact the Office of the ADA Coordinator, at least ten days in advance of the event: 543-6450 (voice); 543-6452 (TDD); 685-3885 (FAX); access@u.washington.edu (E-mail).
