JOINT PDE AND DIFFERENTIAL GEOMETRY SEMINAR Monday, April 10 Communications 226 3:45 p.m. David Colton (University of Delaware) THE ELECTRIC FAR FIELD OPERATOR We will examine spectral properties of the far field operator corresponding to the scattering of time harmonic electromagnetic waves by an inhomogeneous medium of compact support.Included will be the existence and location of eigenvalues in the complex plane and preliminary results on their physical significance.A few comments will also be made on "transmission eigenvalues" and the recovery of the index of refraction in the case of spherical symmetry. For more information about this seminar, view the Differential Geometry Seminar World-Wide Web page at https://www.math.washington.edu/~lee/Seminars/dg.html To request disability accommodations, contact the Office of the ADA Coordinator, at least ten days in advance of the event: 543-6450 (voice); 543-6452 (TDD); 685-3885 (FAX); access@u.washington.edu (E-mail).
