Merits and demerits of the orbit method

The idea behind the orbit method is to unite harmonic analysis with symplectic geometry (which can also be considered as a part of the more general idea of the unification of mathematics and physics).

In my talk I shall discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the method and present a "User's Guide" for non-experts.
