For the past four days, four of us (Doug Lind, Tom Duchamp, Michael Keynes and I) have been in College Park, Maryland finding out all sorts of things about life in general and education in particular on the campuses of our twelve fellow members of the MER (Mathematicians and Educational Reform) Department Network. Now we are full of inspiration, insights, and even some plans--Michael, in particular, is down to organize a gathering of graduate students from as many as possible of the universities the day before the Math Fest here next summer.
