Topics in Numerical Analysis, Winter, 2013
This is the Math 498 homepage. Consult it from time to time to find
useful information for the course. I'll link papers I think are
valuable resources.
The following are links to current course information. I'm going to post
links to documents that we will consult.
- We will meet in Clark Hall 219 at 10:30 on Fridays.
- The first topic we will discuss will be eigenvalue computation. Here is a link to a paper that supplements our text.
This paper describes the power method, inverse power method, and the qr method.
- The second topice will be introduction to
svd.
- Cleve Moler on svd. This is one of
the best short expositions of the svd and its history.
- Demmel's chapter on svd
- (3/2/13) Partitioned matrix
multiplication.
- The third topic will be the Fast Fourier Transform.
