Math 334, Accelerated (Honors) Advanced Calculus, Fall, 2001

This is the Math 334 homepage. Consult it from time to time to find useful information for the course. I will include links to the syllabus and other course information.

  2. (9/28/01) The time schedule has a confusing entry for texts. The main text is Jerry Folland's "Advanced Calculus" available at professional copy. Bartle's book is required, but it is intended as a supplement to Folland's book.
  3. (10/5/01) Ernie's new office hours are T 11:30-12:30, TH 1:30-2:30.
  4. (10/5/01) The homework for October 12 will not include section 1.8. That material will be deferred to October 19.
  5. (10/10/01) The homework for October 12 will not include section 1.7. That material will also be deferred to October 19.
  6. (10/10/01) Appendix A in Bartle and Sherbert has a good discussion of logic and proofs.
  7. (10/12/01) Homework on section 2.3 will be deferred to October 26. Homework on sections 1.7, 1.8, 2.1, and 2.2 will be due on October 19.

  9. (10/16/01) There is a misprint on the syllabus. There is no hw from Bartle on section 1.3. It should be section 1.2, #18.
  10. (10/16/01) There is a misprint in Folland, 1.7, #4. S1=S,and S2=T.
  11. (10/17/01) In problem #18, section 1.2 from Bartle, the inequality is true for n>1.
  12. (10/18/01) Hw due October 26: Folland, sections 2.3, 2.4, 2.5.
  13. In sample problem number 1, f(x) should be f(x,y) and f should be defined for x^2+y^2 < pi^2.
