A few comments about project presentations
- I recommend one or two members of the group do the
presentation. It is absolutely not necessary that all
members present.
- The presentations are, at most, 10 minutes long.
One member of the group must be in charge of watching the
clock and telling the presenter(s) when they are running out of time.
-
Do not feel that you have to give every detail of your
project. Start with just giving the highlights: what was the
problem, what was the general plan of attack,
a quick description of the methods applied, then
talk about the solution, and briefly
share what you learned from the variations.
That will probably fill up ten minutes.
-
Figures are good. Remember that a figure may
look good on the laptop, but lose readability once projected.
Fonts may need to be larger, lines bigger, with less reliance
on subtle variations in shading.
-
Do a rehearsal to see if your presentation fits into ten minutes.
If it is too long, try to shorten or eliminate some part(s).
The goal is just a general overview of your project, so you should
leave lots of details out.
-
Check that your laptop/tablet/etc. works with the room projector before
it is your time to present.
-
Try to relax. It might be helpful to remember that the
goal of the presentation is to share your group's ideas, thoughts, and experiences.
As long as you are doing that, you can't go wrong. And it will be over
in 10 minutes.
